Each and every day tens of thousands of people scurry onto the internet to search for the latest secrets to losing weight, or packing on pounds of muscle. And yet, every day just as many people go to bed at night not one step closer to their goal of a new image. The problem stems from the seeming complexity of the task at hand, as readers are asked to eat this, don't eat that, do this, jump over that. By the end of it all, hopeful people just fall asleep to try again another day.

The biggest hurdle that people have is not in what they have to do, but the mindset that they must undertake to achieve over the long-haul. Even something as simple as run a mile, becomes a chore in dexterity when it must be done day in and day out. The solution, however, is more simple than you might think. No, not so simple like an ab machine you can turn on while you watch the football game (things that simple never work as promised), but simple enough that everyone who finishes this article should be able to take on the challenges they dread the most with a fresh take.

Changing How You Look at Diets -- The "D" word is one of the most overused, feared and unavoidably important words in the world of health and fitness. And yet, I'm going to do what many people wouldn't dream of and suggest you stop dieting. Wait, what? Stop dieting? Well, not exactly. You still need to change your eating patterns but instead of focusing on what you can't eat, and what you must eat, try focusing on what you like to eat. No, that doesn't mean a chocolate cake and an oreo breakfast, it means eat as much as you are hungry, but choose foods that you like which are healthy.

If you really like bananas, then eat more of them to quench your hunger pains instead of snacking on the Doritos in kitchen cabinet. If you think milk or fruit juices are delicious, then use them to replace all those sodas you've been sneaking in. We're not talking about a diet -- eat as much as you are hungry -- we're simply talking about eating foods you like, that happen to be better for you than what you normally eat.

Let's do some basic math here: If you cut out the bad of what you are eating, and replace it with good things you enjoy, by that very nature you will lose weight simply from the difference in quality between your old and new eating pattern. And really, that's part one of the puzzle. And what if you're trying to gain weight? Well guess what, you're cutting down on the fat and getting your body in shape to make real production when you're working out.

Weight is Gained and Lost the Same Way -- When it comes to gaining or losing weight, it's all done basically the same way. You can eat the same way if you were trying to gain, than if you were trying to lose. The difference is made up with two simple differences: When trying to gain weight, supplement your workouts with delicious protein shakes packed full of fruits and even ice cream. When trying to lose weight, focus more on cardio and less on lifting. Even though the day-to-day habits are remarkably similar between the two goals, the results can both be met from the same street.

Sure, there are more nuanced differences such as try to eat something before you go to sleep when you're gaining weight (to prevent your body from basically eating itself at night), but when it comes to making a change in your life, you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars or painstaking hours trying to figure out what to do. All it takes, is a change in the way you look at the path before you.
