when you install a second hard drive your computer pretty much ignores it because that brand-new drive is empty, the drive is still unable to receive data and isn't even assigned a name. First you're going to click the start button and then right-click computer, then choose manage, in the screen that appears click disk management, the initialize disk window will now come up and show you your newly installed drive and ask permission to initialize it, click okay to begin the process, once this process is finished your new drive will be recognized but still doesn't have a name or a letter that it's assigned to it, to do this go back to the computer management window then right-click your newly installed but still unallocated drives and choose new simple volume, now you're just going to go through the setup wizard, which pretty much just involves clicking next that every screen as Windows does all the work for you, and when you're done your newly installed drive will now have a letter, so that now you can store all of your excess information in your brand-new hard drive.
