Today’s children are more prone to being overweight and obese. In fact a recent study says the number of overweight children has doubled in the United states alone from the number of kids obese thirty years back. This has increased the danger of health complications in children. Sports and exercise might become a thing of the past if some necessary actions are not taken by parents and children. Doctors across the globe are making kids obese, one of their top priority problems. This problem might also lead to genetic complications and environmental issues. An increased number of children suffering from diabetes, cholesterol and other diseases will also result.

The consequences of obesity are:
• An augmented cholesterol level which can result in heart diseases and strokes.
• Liver diseases might also result
• Life expectancy will become lesser and diabetes might result

How to prevent obesity:
However the solution to the problem lies not in strict diet restriction as this might lead to malnutrition. The best way of preventing child obesity is instilling in them a practice of daily exercise. Parents should find out the sports interest of the children and join them in sports classes during weekends.

Ways to overcome obesity:
The food which children eat should be nutritious as this forms the health basement for their life. Parents should set a good example by following a well nutrition balanced diet. This diet should be rich in vitamins, starch, proteins and deficit in sugary foods and fats. Parents should restrict the children from eating excess junk food and drinking a lot of fizzy drinks. Children become more fit when parents ensure they get a well balanced diet. They should drink a lot of fresh juices, water and low fat milk.

Regulation of eating habits:
Parents should teach children to eat their food slowly after chewing them well. This will limit digestion complications and also help them avoid overeating. Also avoid children eating while watching TV or computer as they tend to overeat. But we should not bane some foods like chocolates completely and instead promise them a chocolate if they eat their food without watching TV.

Physical activity
A survey says 5 out of 10 boys and 7 out of 10 girls do not get the required exercise they need at a small age. This is due to the reduction of outdoor playing. Today, boys tend to play more video games and girls play with their dolls. This should be regulated and try to build your house with a lawn and in a close neighbourhood where your children can play with fellow friends. Get them a bicycle to make them go to school or they can walk. However try to avoid them going by bus or car. Most children will be delighted if you surprise them by joining them in a dance class. This is great exercise for them too.

Hence to put it in a nutshell, more exercise and a balanced diet are the best way to tackle child obesity.
