Lecce can be found in Puglia with monuments and a baroque historic city centre, which helps to make it one of most beautiful destinations in Italy. When you are discovering Lecce Italy, a walk through the streets will give you an opportunity to admire stunning balconies, churches and monuments which serve as a reminder for the sixteenth century.
You will find a number of places to explore in this city. A trip to Porta Napoli, will enable you to explore an old town with ancient buildings from the XVIII century. This will also give you opportunity to check out the Church of Saint Mary of Providence and one of the most beautiful and treasured churches on Umberto I street, which is the Church of the Holy Cross. The construction of this church started in 1353, but was not completed until 1695 to give a building that was really impressive. It is adorned with grotesque figures, animals and a rose window in the middle.

Another place that is worth visiting would be the Duomo. This was constructed in 1144 with a bell tower that was added later in 1660. This is not only the hub of the religious life in this city, but also provides a unique place where everyone can take in the spirit of Religion.

There are many other churches in Leece, including the Church of San Niccol? and Cataldo that was built during the ancient times and was refurbished in 1716 to combine the original and baroque elements and the church of the Theatines with St. Michael Archangel altar featuring a copy of the well-known artwork of the Saint that was drawn by Guido Reni.

For more historical charm, you can check out the Roman Amphitheatre which was constructed to allow soldiers to enjoy various shows. The statue of Athena was among the sculptures in the Amphitheatre, but is now found at the Castromediano Museum.
In the vicinity of Oronzo's square, you will find the Castle of Charles V in the location where the cultural life in this city comes together. In Leece, handmade production is a must and so you will find objects such as wrought iron, copper, rush and terracotta in different shapes. The papier mache and leccese stone are two materials that are commonly used in this city.

Lecce is also famous for its cooking with legumes and vegetables prepared in many ways, but particularly with the Mediterranean spices. These are generally prepared in a terracotta pot with some Italian extra-virgin olive oil and the finish dish would be eaten with toasted bread, freselle.
When it comes to holiday accommodations, you can find some impressive Lecce hotels. Some of the hotels include Risorgimento Resort, Eos Hotel and Hotel President.
