There are a lot of beliefs when talking about the art of singing. Many believe that only people who are born with the golden voice can sing, and it too late for other people to learn. This is absolutely not true! Anyone can learn to sing, as long as you have a passion for singing and your heart is really into it. Almost all professional voice teachers believe that anyone can sing, provided you are interested in learning it.
It is not necessary to enrol in expensive proper voice lessons to learn to sing. Not every singer in the music industry who became famous now took proper voice lessons when they first started. Early in their career these singers also paid they own share of sacrifices and hard work to learn the basic in singing. As what they say mimicry and self confidence often help the most.
However, do not be intimidated with what you see in the television. Always remember that real life talent shows are cleverly produced for the purpose of shock value. A lot of the people who auditioned for these television shows are the worst cases of people who cannot control their pitch or volume. These people were selected for the purpose only of entertainment. If they just know the basic in singing and spent their time in professional vocal exercises or training, most of them could have learned how to sing. But instead of taking vocal lessons they jumped instantly into these contests without preparation.
Another belief in the area of singing is that, very few people are really tone deaf. Tone deaf is a term used to identify someone who sings really out of tune, off pitch or with very high volume. But the reality is, less than 2 of the population in the nations is tone deaf. These people just sing their heart out without listening to their voice. People who cannot hit the right notes and pitch simply need air training to hear his or her own voice and see what’s wrong with it. This ear training can be done with the help of a professional voice teacher or by investing in a quality learn to sing program
Yes anyone can learn how to sing but not every voice is suited to all genres of music. Just like any other music instrument, the human voice is suited with a particular genre of music. Not all songs are fit for everybody. You have to choose the right song for you to learn faster.
Always remember that when you start your singing career you don’t have your own songs, so it is fine if you do not sing your own material, but be careful in choosing the songs that you will sing. If you have a really gentle voice it is not a wise decision to sing songs that are hugely powered vocals.
Do not imitate the voice of your favourite singer. You should have your own style in singing so people can easily identify you, and you won’t have difficulty performing in front of the crowd because you are using your own voice and style.
