As the school year begins to draw near many of us can t help but to think about the fall season and all the beauty that comes along with it. Memories of bright fall colors, warm inviting scents, crisp fresh air, and the impending holiday season bring us a feeling of excitement and anticipation. These days though it is much more difficult to spend money on fall décor for many individuals due to the high cost of goods and the declining number of jobs available. But there are a number of decorations that you can make right at home without spending large amounts of money. In the case of many projects you can bring in many of the materials right from your own back yard. These are only a few of the many craft projects that can be utilized to get you and your family in the fall spirit but definitely a good place to start.
The first thing that you can do to get ready for fall is make your own fall themed centerpiece. You don t need many supplies to do this and those that you must purchase are very inexpensive. You will want to purchase a small basket or fall colored vase and also a foam floral block if using a basket or other larger container. The rest of the supplies you can find right outside, collect some colorful leaves (may also use artificial leaves), pinecones, twigs, and fall colored flowers and arrange them in you basket or vase to make a beautiful fall centerpiece.
The next thing that you can do to get ready for the fall season is purchase some inexpensive mini pumpkins and gourds. You can often find these for less than $2 a piece and the effect of placing them around your home is purely fall. These can be used both indoors and out and are very versatile. You can place them on tables throughout your home or place them in your handmade centerpiece for an added touch, or you can place them on porch railing and steps to show your fall spirit outdoors. Wherever you use them you will see that pumpkins and gourds make great holiday décor.
Next you can make framed fall pictures. This is simple and inexpensive if you have a printer and a digital camera. Simply take some fall pictures and print them up in whatever size you wish and frame. Frames are fairly inexpensive if you go to the right store, often you can even find frames and garage sales and thrift stores if you look close enough. Your pictures can either take the place of other pictures for the season or you can find a new spot to display them. Either way they will add a touch of fall and as an added bonus you can show off your skills as a photographer.
Fall is such an exciting and invigorating season and you shouldn t have to give up the joy of the season because of money. With these simple ideas you too can enjoy the beauty of the season.
