Many people have a tough time controlling their dog when all they want to do is run around the neighborhood. Fortunately, you now have the radio fence to make it easier for you to keep your dog from getting lost. The radio fence has a unique way of detecting whether the dog is about to stray off and will help in training your pet as well. Here are some reasons to convince you to get one:

1. It creates an invisible barrier. The best reason to get a radio fence is the fact that it builds an invisible one for you. If you have seen other people’s dogs (or even cats) that simply jump or climb over fences, you know building a fence is not worth all the physical exertion, money, and time required. It may also cover up your beautiful home if you build the fence too high. By the way, it is not a physical barrier as well. This means people and other pets can go through the barrier without a hitch.

2. It uses radio signals over wires. That is why they are called radio fence in the first place. A long wire is laid in the ground around your property and is connected to a transmitter. Since the system uses wires, it can follow any form you want and can maximize the play area for your dogs. The wires are used to broadcast a signal where they are located. When a dog wearing the receiver gets past the boundary, it gets triggered and will set a mild static correction.

3. The system is safe. Leashes cause bad bruises to the neck of dogs and may even be a reason for choking. Pens limit the movement of your dog and could lead to health and sanitation issues. The biggest concern in a radio fence is the static correction. Thankfully, the correction does not harm your pets and only serves as a consequence and as a punishment your dog. There is also an alarming sound a few seconds prior to the static correction. It is completely safe to use on dogs that weigh nine pounds or higher. The correction can also be adjusted to match the comfort level of your dog and has an alarm only option.

4. It’s perfect for training. Though it is effective in simply containing your pet using the system, it will work even better in training your dog. The radio fence would be ideal even for the most stubborn dogs out there. With the combination of boundary flags and the adjustable static correction, they will be able to realize the area that they are allowed to roam. Most radio fence packages do not just come with a manual but also a training booklet that provides instructions on how to train your pet.

The first few days are involved with the familiarization of the boundary and the flags. Together with their owners, they will then try to cross the boundary but will also walk back into the play area due to the warning sound. That part can be skipped, so the dog can experience the static. Rewards must be given, though, when they return to the play area. In less than a month, expect your dog to remain in the area even without the receiver.
