People too often have the idea that the only way to be physically fit is to do long exhaustive weight training. Even though any activity is good, cardiovascular exercises are especially beneficial to your overall health and fitness levels.

Instead, improving fitness levels even a small amount can lead to feeling far more energized throughout your day. After taking a quick walk your body usually creates endorphins. It's not difficult to understand why so many people enjoy doing exercise when you consider the endorphins and the increase in oxygen being transported all over your body.

Cardiovascular fitness simply means strengthening the muscles involved in running your heart, lungs and vascular system. As you improve your fitness level you will see changes such as not getting short of breath all the time. Your levels of energy should greatly improve as you get fitter too, which will enable you to walk down to the shops or take the dog out for a walk each day. But the biggest benefit to working on improving cardiovascular fitness is that it becomes much easier to maintain a healthy weight.

The more exercise you do each day the easier you'll find keeping the weight off and you won't have to keep such a close eye on your diet.

When people hear the words 'cardiovascular exercise' they think it means sprinting on a treadmill so fast that they turn bright red and faint. Studies have shown us that to see benefits from cardiovascular exercise you only need to do around 30 minutes of physical activity per day. If you want you can do the 30 minutes exercise in one go or you can do bits every now and then during the day. Even just a brisk 10 minute walk in the park is counted as a part of the 30 minutes of exercise. Even taking time out to play basketball with your kids adds to your total.

Dancing around to your favorite song also counts. What you do makes no difference. Just doing a little more exercise throughout the day will improve your fitness level. There are many positive effects besides weight loss due to improving your cardiovascular fitness level. The benefits to your long-term health and happiness are significant. Those with a higher level of fitness are in fact much better off as they have a reduced chance of getting cancer, type II diabetes and also heart disease. Every time you can fit in some exercise into your daily routine the more energy you'll have. This is good for people wanting to wake up feeling energized and refreshed and also lose weight at the same time.
