Strong plot and excellent performances make Star Trek (2009) a movie which is worth a watch. You will be surprised at the twists and turns that take place throughout the movie. The movie starts with Officer George Kirk of the USS Kelvin trying to save the lives of his crew members when his ship is attacked by another ship. He is on the lookout for Ambassador Spock, who is a child on Vulcan at that time, disdained by his neighbors for his half-human nature. As Kirk sets the Kelvin on a collision course with Nero's massive ship, the Nerada, Kirk hears his wife in her escape medical ship give birth to a son who they name "Jim" just moments before Kirk dies. Unfortunately, Jim is not able to see his father.
Soon, Vulcan comes under attack by Nero and his crew, threatening to cause the planet to disappear into a black hole. Spock comes to the rescue of several Vulcan leaders including his Vulcan father, Sarek and his human mother. James T. Kirk (Jim) as a young adult always had a wish to follow in his father's footsteps and later joins Starfleet with a hope to live up to his dream.
You will witness the emotional side of the movie when Spock is shown as a helpless man who couldn't save his mother and watches her being swept away to death. At the same time, Kirk is preparing himself for a huge challenge ahead. He has a huge responsibility up his sleeve.
You will find a sharp connection between the two main protagonists- Kirk and Spork, who both have lost a parent. This very feeling will instantly help you relate to these two wonderfully crafted characters. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Eric Bana have done full justice to their roles.
