Saint Vlas is one of the most rapidly developing resorts in Bulgaria. It has 3000 inhabitants and is located on the Black Sea coast at the foot of the southern slopes of Stara Planina, 9 km from Nessebar, 2km from Elenite complex and 5 km north of Sunny Beach and 40 km north of Bourgas.

It is well known for its Mediterranean climate - sea and mountain air masses are mixed in a specific combination that purifies the air and makes the climate suitable for treatment of the respiratory tract throughout the year.
In recent years the resort has grown into a popular and preferred destination for vacations. Many new hotels, guest houses, restaurants and shops were built. With new and modern infrastructure it attracts many Bulgarian and foreign tourists, wishing to enjoy the beauty of the mountain while having fun on the beach.

St. Vlas is just 4 km north of Sunny Beach and is facing the entire Nessebar Bay. Therefore, the view here is incredible - in the daytime sea and azure horizon is infinite, and night - struck by a playful lights of Sunny Beach and the bay. In the back of St.Vlas rises the impressive silhouette of the Balkan mountain.

With a rich history, St. Vlas was initially established in the second century as a Thracian settlement called Larissa, and later in the 14 century was renamed to St. Vlas - the keeper, healer and protector of merchants. During the years of Ottoman rule the village was renamed several times and all names were connected with the monasteries around it. Unfortunately, none of these monasteries has survived to present day.The Turks called it Kucuk monastery, and in the records it was written down as as Monastery village. It restored its name of Saint Vlas after the reunification of the Bulgarian state in the end of the 19th century.

Combination of mountain and sea has healing effects on lung diseases and St.Vlas boasts the only seaside sanitarium in the country. The clean beaches, the crystal water, the local fishermen port, and marinas are an essential complement to the development of the resort.

Climatic conditions in the region are extremely healthy, and the mountain slopes, sea, forests and beaches have proved their excellent conditions for rest and relaxation.

St. Vlas is the only resort in Bulgaria with completely south facing sandy beaches. The beaches of St. Vlas are wide and sandy, open to all guests of the resort. There are three beaches on both sides of the Marina, with a total length of 1.5 km, with the longest among them being the central beach. South of it is located a smaller beach called "Camping". The third beach is located near the yacht marina and also bears the beautiful name of Marina. The yacht port is new, very well arranged port offering everything you will keen yachtsmen may need during their unforgettable summer holiday in Saint Vlas. You can rent and even buy a yacht while the professional consultants will serve you with a smile.

Those who prefer accommodation on the land rather than the sea, can rent a holiday villa or apartment in St.Vlas.

In 2010 the St. Vlas beaches as well as the marina received the international ecological award "Blue Flag 'which speaks of their cleanness, and excellent service.
Each beach has lifeguards, beach bar and provides the following services and amenities: pedalos, canoeing, windsurfing, banana rides, sliders, water jets, trampoline, massage bench, beach volleyball field, as well as medical care.

Saint Vlas is a calm destination, but its close proximity to Sunny Beach resort makes it a great starting point for wild summer nights. That makes all St. Vlas accommodation options an excellent choice both for people seeking peace and relaxation away from the urban hustle and bustle as well as for people willing to experience the wild rhythms of nightlife and entertainment.

The area where the village is located, is the largest tourist area in Bulgaria, which virtually makes up the unrecognized Bulgarian Riviera, formed by the following resorts and tourists villages: Aheloy, Ravda, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, Zora, Saint Vlas, Paradise Beach (Robinson) and Elenite.
