Acne that causes blockages deep under the surface of the skin - in the sebaceous glands - is an example of the more acute forms of acne. Large bumps that are normally found on the upper chest, back and, of course, on the face are what you can expect from this type of blockage. What is interesting, perhaps, is that dead skin cells are part of the reason for the blockages to form. To lessen the possibility of dead skin cells causing problems, it can help to have your skin exfoliated. However, with acne nothing is guaranteed. Plus, it is known that there is a genetic tendency toward acne for some families, at least, but not for everybody. Indeed, it's worth trying exfoliation on your acne if your case is isolated and not due to family genetics. Even so, exfoliating your skin too often has drawbacks. It can cause damage to your skin.

Acne vulgaris, or acne as it's most commonly known, is a very common skin condition. The reason for seeing lots of acne on the face area is down to the number of sebaceous follicles there. That's the reason for seeing acne on the upper chest, back and face. There are different degrees of acne, the least severe simply being whiteheads and blackheads. However you should always remember that more severe acne can come from these minor formations. You should leave any spots on your face alone as squeezing them can simply make things worse.

If you do have acne scars on your face, this is usually the result of an excessive amount of collagen. Once you develop an acne scar, you really want it to go away. Acne scars that are very visible are the focus of those that long to get rid of them.

If you suffered from acne, and you popped the pimples on your face, you may have developed acne scars as well. You should never squeeze any kind of acne blemish. People that do squeeze them are motivated to get rid of them as fast as possible. Your best bet is to wait until the acne can be popped effectively, allowing what is inside to be popped outward instead of inward.

The best way to take care of your skin is to use a very gentle cleanser and something to exfoliate dead skin on the surface. The reason for that is it dead skin cells that mix with sebum to cause a blockage, and that is what you are trying to avoid. Most people understand, especially over time, that by taking care of their skin in a moderate fashion, it will reduce the amount of acne that they have.

When exfoliating your skin, and cleansing it, never over wash. Doing this would be called improper skin care which can cause a great deal of damage. Skin care always needs to be a moderate process, and if it is not, you can cause skin problems. The most common reaction in teens, and even adults, who have acne is to try to evacuate the blemish. But, squeezing will simply cause inflammation if the comedone is closed. There is no way to force a deep blockage to the surface, but squeezing it can make it much worse.
