Search engine optimization is becoming very popular nowadays, especially after 2009. Because of the importance of SEO on offline and online businesses, there are a lot of companies who are paying top dollars to increase their rankings for the desired keywords on their field. The competition is becoming everyday stronger, there are some genius peoples which are called SEO gurus who can rank a lot of websites on their main keywords. But what if everyone becomes an expert in SEO? What if everyone becomes a SEO Guru? Who will get the rankings? It may be a hard question, because we do not decide the Search engine positions. But if we go deeper on SEO, we will find the answer.
When firstly Search Engines were discovered, ranking a site was pretty easy. The site which had most articles or content was ranked on top of Search Engines. Than after engineers noticed that, they started to upgrade their algorithm. Than comes the Backlink Decade; In last 5-10 years backlinks were very important on increasing the Page Rank and the SERP's on almost every search engine. Backlinks are still very important, but when the peoples saw "What Google is Looking to rank a site" they started to create different type of applications to create hundreds of backlinks in seconds, automatically. Until 2009 if you had more backlinks than your competitors than you would outrank each of your competitors. And with the automated software's a lot of peoples started to become SEO experts. With those software's almost every site for any competitive keyword could be ranked. Than our SEO police, Google started to take action.
Firstly Google does not love automated applications for SEO purpose. Especially for backlinking. And after 2009, Google started to take action; they updated their algorithm several times. The last algorithm update was Panda Update. So here we come to the answer. If everyone becomes an expert in SEO, Google will come and bring an update so it will bring back, the natural way of optimizing your websites.
What is a Panda Update?
Panda Update is an algorithm which has hit those SEO experts or gurus which found a way to rank their sites threw spin and duplicated content and used those automated software's to create backlinks. Auto blogs were doing great until this update came.
Who will be touched by Panda?
Google likes the pages that play by the rules. Every website that breaks the rules will be penalized. Either from Panda update or from other Google algorithms which you may not be aware of. In 2011, the best way to stay away from SEO problems, would be quality content and quality backlinks. Remember, always will be the same way of optimizing websites on search engines. Content will be always King and backlinks the queen.
The Main Answer
While search engines will exist , becoming an expert on SEO will be hard. Only those who have had past knowledge on optimizing websites will gain more and more expertise in their field. Random peoples would not be able to become experts to compete with the big guys. Yes, random peoples can learn and become experts on SEO, but not all of them. If everyone would become an SEO expert, then Search Engines will change their algorithm, and the way of optimizing will change. So again those who were experts from the start will always have better opportunities on rakings.
