Many of us have considered joining the services at some stage in our lives whether its the medical, fire fighting or a law enforcing one. The thrill of pressure and making such a huge difference can be a hugely appealing for many of us who would seek to make the most of the time we can spend in work. There are many opportunities in the police force for job satisfaction or even career advancement for those with ambitions.
There are unfortunately many people who would love to work for the police and many of these are unable to as they do not meet the very specific requirements needed if they are to succeed with their application. With so many different duties that police officers are expected to fulfil, these requirements are not just a chance to be picky or turn down applicants.
Once you have fulfilled the application criteria and have undergone the police training, which is incredibly comprehensive, you will be handed your badge, baton and hat and then you will be able to benefit from many of the advantages associated with becoming a police officer.
The job is very well paid and you also can boast of job security. There is also financial security as well as the pay increase each year that is set out in a chart, known as the police pay scales. Having your salary for the years to come set out is a really positive way of seeing things and this offers great stability and security. It's also something to look forward to at the end of each year spent in the force and can be quite an advantage when it comes to getting a mortgage.
Oh, did I say mortgage? I think I did and there must have been a reason for it. Police officers count as key workers and are therefore eligible for a subsidised mortgage scheme. It's needless to say in such a time of economic uncertainty that this is a huge bonus indeed and could make a huge difference, especially with younger officers who may have families and are looking to get on the property ladder.
There is also the job satisfaction that comes with serving as a member of the police force. Of course, police officers are all very well trained and professional but they are still challenged and this can be hugely stimulating. There is also a great chance to integrate incredibly well into the local community and to meet a whole host of interesting and new people. For those that like to take on responsibility and make a real difference, the police force could provide many opportunities.
The police force has to be one of the most incredible organisations for which to work on the planet. The sheer level of diversity and challenging situations that police officers may encounter gives the job a really interesting side and there is never a dull moment. If you would rather not sit in an office all day then perhaps a career as interesting and as varied as the police force may be right for you. There may be some opportunities in the police for you.
