Concerns over the number of illnesses being reported by holidaymakers when returning home from Egypt is a massive issue, with people being taken ill on holiday all too often.
Egypt is steeped in history and mythology, boasting some of the most amazing architectural creations in the world, whish is why thousands of people travel there each year to wonder at famous attractions such as the Pyramids and Sphinx.
Whether it is travelling down the River Nile, through the Valley of Kings or relaxing at one of resorts of the Red Sea or Sinai Peninsular, Egypt remains a popular destination because of what it has to offer.
However, many holidaymakers discover the country has more to offer than just its fascinating tourist traps, with food poisoning high on many resort menus.
An Egypt holiday illness is commonly caused from food that has become contaminated by Salmonella, E Coli, Shigella and Campylobacter. Water can also cause travellers illness from Cryptosporidium and Giardiasis. These contaminations are often because of poor hygiene standards, which can lead to holidays being completely ruined.
Holidaymakers are protected against such things wrecking a getaway, with tour operators, hotels and resorts being held accountable for keeping hygiene standards high. If this does not happen and a holiday is ruined through a sickness that was not the fault of the traveller, they can enlist the help of a legal team to recover them compensation.
Other common illnesses that affect holidays in Egypt include Cholera from contaminated food and water, Hepatitis A, which is spread through poor personal hygiene, and Polio and Typhoid from infected food and water.
Holidaymakers are encouraged to research a resort or hotel before booking, to check if there have been cases of outbreaks of illness and sickness or to see if previous guests have complained about hygiene standards and food poisoning.
