This is a method that not many people use in order to drive people to their site. By your getting readers to share your emails with others, it will bring in a lot more hits and more importantly targeted traffic to your website. Your website targets a certain group of people for example specifically Internet marketers or people looking for fitness information or any other specific niche. So you will begin to get hits to your website the moment your readers begin to share your emails and when their readers or the people they know click on the links and check out what you have to offer.
The key thing to consider here though is that this method will only work if you are actually providing content to your readers that is worth sharing. The way to do this is by offering value and helping your people get what they want. This is why building a relationship with your readers and your list is so important as the benefits that come with it are immense. If you have a crappy relationship with your readers, they will not help you get hits to your website and they will not bother in sharing your emails or forwarding them. The majority of people will actually open emails that they receive from people they know, like and trust instead of people who they do not know.
A couple reasons why this is effective and will work in bringing you what you want, is because your readers readers will be familiar with your readers as they are on their lists. That may sound a little confusing so read it again if you haven't got your head wrapped around it just yet. Your will get hits to your website because when your readers email their lists, the chances of the emails being opened and read will be very high as it is your subscribers/readers email in the 'from' box and not your email address. Another reason is because using emails are very easy and literally anybody knows how to write an email and send it. This means people will not get confused and they will appreciate the value and help that is reaching their inbox once a day or every other day.
These are just two methods you can use to start building your readership base and building up your name and image at the same time. Talk about killing three birds with one stone and not just two! Everybody is using typical methods to get results which is ok because they work, but why not use not so typical methods to get results because they too could produce better results and so are a great way to get hits to your website. :-)
