Something we should all be interested in is the importance of green living. It means so much to future generations. Any damage we do today to our earth, will cause bigger problems for our kids, and their kids. Making the planet a better place to live is the job of everyone, including the youth and the elderly. There has been more information on this matter in the past several years, than anytime before. Many groups have gotten involved; not simply the government and the EPA, but others, too, including the Girl and Boy Scouts, and many more.
Famous men and women have become involved with living green campaigns as well, as many actors, musicians, and other famous people have made public service announcements that have been effective. Commercial enterprises pay attention to these types of things, and respond with safer, more eco-friendly products. The manufacturers who don't listen can be dealt with by simply not using their services or products. When they start to see that they're losing sales, they will need to make changes to get their clients back. All business enterprises exist only to make a profit. If they create products that are bad for the environment, people will refuse to purchase them and they'll have to change or go out of business. A good consumer boycott is the most effective and fastest way to get the problem companies to alter their ways. Consumers can make a difference in what happens to the earth.
We the people can also make a great difference if we only get started recycling. It is astounding the amount that is discarded daily. Just one garbage bag every day per household over the course of a year is enough to create its own landfill. One of the first things to do is to take out all recyclables, including paper, glass and plastic from our everyday trash. When you get started doing it, you will be amazed at how much you can separate out that can be recycled. It is actually not difficult to carry out when you have bins for each product to recycle. To make this easy to remember on a daily basis, just place your collection bins in a handy place, such as your garage or backyard.
There are things that can be done to utilize a lot less paper products. Instead of using paper napkins, choose to use cloth ones that may be reused. Paper use may be reduced a lot by using both sides of the paper, at least use the back side as scratch paper, instead of a new sheet. Take paper that you don't need, and make your own notepads, by cutting them into squares. You can use these scratch pads for family notes, grocery lists and phone messages, and a lot more. Another thing you can do is to try and stop all that unrequested and unneeded mail you receive daily.
Living green can be carried out by simply decreasing the amount of waste you create each day. Using solar panels to heat your house, or owning an efficient hybrid auto, are good ideas, but not required. It's the small things you can do daily that will win the day in the long haul.
