I was talking with a friend with regards to God using the circumstances in your lives to show us what’s within our hearts. For example, if the adolescent boy’s drum playing next door angers you, it’s not too he’s making you angry. You actually get anger in your heart that will God wants you to take care of and the drum playing simply unearths your problem. The Bible is obvious that what we do runs from the heart (Lk. 6:45); it’s God Word that shows us our sin (Heb. Four:12); and it’s God’s Word that will shows us how to deal with sin at the heart level. But my buddy disagreed. He told me that people biblical principles just don’t help him.

That’s a real issue: will the Bible work for you? My friend is not alone in his bottom line; there are many who have simply said the actual Bible doesn’t work for them. Precisely how then can we make it work?

Very first, take it for what it is: absolute truth revealed from God. The particular Bible is no mere non secular book or simple assortment of wisdom, good advice, or higher ethical standards. It has those actions but it’s much more than in which; it’s God’s Word, so much so, when you read your Bible it’s as if Jesus Himself were in the room with you suggesting what to think or perform. The Bible trumps pop theology, man’s philosophy, political correctness, home-spun wisdom, the majority opinion of the culture, as well as everything else. It is God’s truth with no mixture of error.

Second, don’t judge the Bible by your knowledge. You may have studied economics, open public policy, science, or numerous things. That’s good. But what you can’t do is read the Somebody through the lens of what you’ve studied. On the contrary, you must study those actions through the lens of The bible. It’s the Bible that helps all of us to have the right view on economics for example, not the other way around. Too many people have twisted the Scriptures through getting this one principle backwards. Robert warns against being kidnapped simply by human wisdom (Col. 2:7).

Third, learn to interpret it properly. Often people deduce the Bible doesn’t work for these people because they don’t understand it at a specific point. You can almost make the Bible say anything you want. However you must lay aside your own preconceived notions as best you'll be able to when you come to Scripture. Then you definately have to understand a wording in its historical context. Exactly what did it mean to the original readers who lived in an exceedingly different time and culture when compared with you? What is the background, traditions, and understanding they would have experienced in hearing this text? Remember, a text cannot mean today what it never meant when it was composed; it has only one meaning (although we may apply it in different ways). Past that you have to understand the type of books you’re dealing with as the Bible includes different literary forms; you will need to deal with the grammar; along with to deal with the overall flow of the Biblical writer’s argument or stage. Proper interpretation is not not possible, but it does take a little work.

Last, make sure you apply it to your center. Paul says knowledge makes us prideful (1 Cor. 8:1). Also knowing the Bible can make all of us prideful if we don’t then take what we should know and apply it. In other words, we have sin in our bears. It’s the Word that shows people what that sin will be and its opposite. If I have an anger problem, it’s not enough that i can know the Bible says the particular anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God (Jas. 1:20). I have to deal with the anger in my heart by getting it off and replacing the idea with peace, joy, forgiveness, humility, and so forth. I do that simply by renewing my mind with the Holy bible (Rom. 12:1-2).

Fifth, see the importance and relevance famous it to your life. The particular liberal pastor Harry Emerson Fosdick once stated, “Only the preacher proceeds still upon the idea that folks come to religious organization desperately anxious to discover so what happened to the Jebusites.” His point had been that people are not concerned about what actually transpired to the Jebusites and preachers therefore should not be so concerned with Bible occasions but should rather focus on the felt needs of people. Properly, that logic is flawed: felt needs are often distinctive from true need. It is Our god who tells us what our true need is through His revelation (Bible events). You should be very concerned about what happened on the Jebusites and what God would certainly say to us through these people. Yes the Jebusites are old, but God’s revelation in connection to them is relevant today.

6, submit to its authority even if you don’t understand. Sometimes when a person says the Bible doesn’t operate, he means he doesn’t understand the Bible, how it applies to his situation, or the situation themselves. He may mean the Bible confronts his sin and the man doesn’t like that confrontation. Whatever the case, we should have a source of authority apart from ourselves. There are as many views or feelings about a point as there are people on earth. How should we decide which opinion or sensation is right? We need God to see us. He’s the Creator which is His character from which runs that which is right and incorrect. Therefore, even if we don’t determine what God is doing, or exactly why something is right or incorrect according to the Scriptures, we must accept this or find ourselves fighting against God. He knows best and possesses our best interest at heart.

7th find peace in The almighty and what He says, not necessarily what’s happening in your life. You’ll never find peace if you don’t understand this one thing: God is not out to eliminate or remove the difficult instances in your life. Most people get mad at God or their circumstances because their focus will be on the removal of the bad conditions when that is not God’s focus whatsoever. His focus is on you becoming more like Christ; for you putting His power on exhibit by reacting well inside circumstances; on you finding peacefulness in Him and not throughout happy circumstances. Life’s a mixed tote; good things and bad things happen. You have to find what’s constant and the simply thing constant is The almighty. Trust Him by having faith in His Word no matter how you feel and you will have peace.

That’s how to make the particular Bible work for you. When you focus on God by focusing on Their Word, then the world, your life, and your circumstances will begin to make more sense and they’ll make even more sense over time. The Bible will last you because God will be at work in your heart. And you'll thank Him for using your teenage drummer next door.
