Separation, whether it be physical, mental, or emotional, never is a good thing and is hard to go through. The thought of failing upsets you to no end, because you do not want to give up on something you have committed yourself to.

Your marriage is something you would to anything to keep alive and now you are saying "I want my husband back". Making this a reality may be difficult, but it is not impossible. You may have thought of different ways to get your husband back, but really there are five steps you should take in order to get it right.

The first step is to give him some space. Some men feel boxed into a relationship, like they cannot go out and do anything that they like to do. The more limited he feels, the more distant and emotionally unavailable he will become. He needs to be able to freely go out into the garage and work on things, watch sports, and hang out with his guy friends often in order to enjoy the time he spends with you and the family more.

The second step is limit contact. If you and your husband have separated, keep the contact and conversations the two of you have to a minimum. This will give him a chance to sort out his feelings. This separation will be upsetting to you both, but instead of constantly contacting him about trying to make the marriage work, step back and look at the marriage as a whole. By doing this, you will be able to figure out changes that can be made in order to bring the two of you together once more.

The third step is to examine your part in the marriage. No matter who is at fault for the issues in the marriage, it is going to take both of you to fix it. Take a look at yourself and figure out what your part was in the breakup of this marriage. Think about what you could do personally in order to bring the two of you back together. You may want to start honestly listening to your husband more and nagging less, or just show him that you love him.

The fourth step is to set priorities. Maybe you were too busy at work to pay attention to your husbands needs or maybe there was something else going on outside of the home. You should make time for your husband and show him how much he means to you. He should be doing the same for you as well.

The fifth step is listening. Listen to what he has to say when he is ready to talk to you. Do not lash out at what he says, just stay calm and answer any questions he may have. You should both be able to communicate your feelings freely and clearly.
