Before you travel, make a list of what you will pack. You should start this list at least one week in advance, preferably earlier than that. The list should include all of your necessities for the trip. Even last minute packing won't be as stressful, when you have a list to reference. It will also take the panic out of forgetting anything.

If you are driving to your destination, switch drivers frequently. By driving until you're too tired, the next driver will not have anyone to talk to during the trip as you sleep. When you feel very tired, you shouldn't drive. Try to switch drivers every two or three hours. Switching up regularly is important to making sure you reach your destination safely.

In order to get a cheaper currency exchange rate, make sure to wait until your destination to exchange your money. You may want to exchange some of your money before you leave on your trip to be sure you have a little cash on hand when you land. Exchange the bulk of your money at your destination.

Make sure your children also have ID with them when traveling. Give your kids enough cash to call a cab or make a call in an emergency. Every parent should have current pictures of each of their children with identifying characteristics noted on back.

If you plan going camping or hiking, be sure to keep a map handy of the surrounding area. You should bring a GPS, or at least a compass to help you get your bearings if you become lost or disoriented in the woods.

If a travel site has an E-tracking option, utilize it. It will keep you up to date with the cheapest way to travel. You will get an alert by email if the flight you want or have already booked has dropped in price.

Make sure you take clothespins with you when travelling. These are not typical travel gear, but they do come in handy.

Inside your luggage, attach a tag or label with your name and contact information. If your luggage should get lost and the exterior tags are gone, your information will still be available. Any time your luggage will be out of your sight, this can prevent permanent loss of your belongings.

It is not uncommon to provide the housekeeper and bell hop with a tip. The bell boy should get a bare minimum of $1/bag, and housekeeping should get at least a couple dollars a day. You can almost guarantee that you will have a pleasurable stay by doing so.

Research hotels for pet allowance and fees pertaining to them prior to traveling with your pet. Compare and contrast all your options and find the best, and most affordable, option for your furry friend.

Research any needed visas that may be required for your destination or any country you will be traveling through. There are numerous kinds of visas, and not all of them give you permission to enter in the country. To figure out which visa you need, consult your travel agent or even the country's embassy website.

You don't save much space using travel size toiletries and when you run out, the local stores often charge more for products that you need to replace. Instead, try to pack clothes in a manner such that they utilize the available space efficiently. Utilizing some of these methods can leave you with quite a bit more space in your bag.

Don't trust e-mails that offer deals about travel packages. Unless you have done business with this company before or signed up to receive these sorts of emails, avoid opening them.

Try exercising prior to flying. Long flights can be tedious. Your body can become cramped and uncomfortable. To eliminate back and leg pain, stretch and do a light workout to prepare for your flight.

The bad economy might have you feeling as though you should pass on this year's vacation. Use these ideas to take a vacation without breaking the bank.
