Getting sick is not wanted by anyone. We all want time off from work or school, sure, but we don't want to have to be sick to get them.
Getting sick just happens, when the seasons change, and it really doesn't seem to make any difference what is done. It sure would be nice not to ever have to be sick, but if you come down with the flu or a cold, there are lots of things you can do to make you feel better. When you first get the flu or a cold, before it gets any worse than it is, there are things that will help either one. Once you remember how rotten it feels to have the flu, it is much easier to start some preventative measures.
Drink lots of water. You need to be drinking lots of water, if you want to get healthy, especially when you have a cold.
When you aren't sick, you still need liquids. It doesn't make any difference if you have a cold or not, or even trying to prevent one, one of the best things you can do, is stay hydrated. Flu and cold germs are everywhere, and the people who don't get sick from them, are those who have enough water in their system to provide protection. Proper hydration can be maintained by drinking sixty-four ounces of water each day, or more, depending on your weight. Your hands need to be kept clean. People touch a lot of things, without even thinking how many other people have touched the same thing. More than likely, there are people who have touched the same doors, and are in various stages of sicknesses. That's pretty gross, right? Always remember to wash your hands. Your hands transfer germs from the things you touch to the other parts of your body, particularly your face (skeptical? Have you ever counted how many times a day you touch your face? When you wash your hands often you wash away the germs that have been transferred from the things you touched to other parts of your body. Anything you can do to get rid of the germs will give your health a better chance.
Keep your stress levels low. Relaxation is an absolute necessity, other than when sleeping, for any life that is spent filled with circumstances of extreme stress. Every area of health, mental, emotional and physical are all affected adversely by stress. Your body has a more difficult time fighting off sickness, if stress is too much of your life. Quite often there are illnesses that people get and can't get rid of because of the stress they are under. Whatever you do, it is vitally important to relax every day with what works for you. De-stressing can help your health.
There isn't anything that you can do to cure a cold or the flu. If you get tired of having colds each year, there are a variety of ways to prevent them from happening. Most prevention measures are mainly common sense, but they will help you not get colds or the flu. If people around you are getting sick, that is no reason that you need to.
