The Fiat is one of the oldest makers of automobiles. It is an Italian manufacturing company with many plants all over the world. Some of the cars recently manufactured by Fiat are Brava/Bravo, Marea, Stilo and Punto. All these cars are available in hatchback, sedan and estate models.
Fiat Punto is another of its kind and is of the super mini class. Its predecessor was the Fiat Uno. The Punto has been being manufactured from the 1993 and periodically undergoing small changes. The changes that were made can be clearly divided into three periods or generations. The first was observed between the years 1993 and 1999. At the beginning, the engines were of 1.2L and 1.7L for petrol and diesel respectively. At the same time Fiat also introduced its convert able version of Fiat Punto. It won the Car of Year in 1995. The second generation was between 1999 and 2003. During this phase the weight of the car was slightly increased and the interior was entirely remodeled with the outside appearance being the same. In the third generation, the exteriors were also changed completely. It remains one of the best mini cars in Europe.
Fiat Brava/Bravo was launched in the year 1995 and was manufactured for six years. The engines had a replacement of the older but successful engines. All the cars therefore had new technology engines. It had a variety of capacity ranging from 1.4L to 1.9L. The engines could run on petrol or turbo diesel. In the first year of its launch, it had great reviews and also won the car of year in the Europe. Though it won the car of the year, it had few drawbacks. The engines were not able to provide noiseless drive and produced noise at high speed and also the drives were bumpy compared to the other cars at that time.
Fiat Stilo in its hatchback, sedan models were launched in the year 2001 and are still being manufactured in certain plants. This model came as a replacement for its predecessor Bravo/Brava. It used a petrol or a diesel engine and with a capacity of 1.2L. It had a manual gearbox and a semi automatic gearbox. There were many speculations about its appearance being more German. It also seemed to be too heavy for its size. There were critics pointing out that its predecessors were better than it. The engine with a capacity of just 1.2L was considered to be underpowered for the size and weight of the car. Because of the above reason the fuel economy fell short.
Fiat Marea was introduced in the global market in the year 1997 and had similar features as that of other cars. The car was introduced at a time when similar cars from other automakers were also being introduced. This was a major reason for the downfall and failure of Fiat Marea.
