Everyone loves to touch their face. It is a habit that is just so hard to break or pay much attention to. However, washing your hands frequently and keeping them off of your face as much as possible significantly helps prevent acne and oil buildup on your face. Wash your hands thoroughly and often, and keep them off of your face.
Get up off the couch and exercise! Exercise is a big trigger to decreasing acne. Not only is it a great stress reducer, but also, the increased blood flow also helps in the acne healing process. Plus, exercise helps your entire body to be healthy, which aids it in ridding itself of waste more efficiently and, in the long run, decreasing acne.
If you are fighting only a single blemish, bump, or raised pimple but also have very sensitive skin, your best bet is to apply a spot treatment to the affected area. Applying an allover treatment can irritate sensitive skin with harsh chemicals and ingredients that cause inflammation and redness.
Avoid stress to keep your face clear of unsightly bumps. Stress wakes up the hormones in the body that create acne. Keep yourself calm to keep your skin calm. Try deep cleansing breathes or taking time out for something you enjoy. The less stress you put your body through the more your skin will thank you.
Even if the sun isn't out and you're going outside on a dark and cloudy day, put your sunscreen on! The sunlight makes it through the clouds (or else it would be as dark as night) and will still hit your skin, potentially damaging it and causing an acne break-out.
Be careful when shaving. If you are shaving and have an acne breakout, you can nick the acne, irritating the skin and potentially spreading bacteria to surrounding areas. To avoid this, moisten your beard thoroughly with soap and water prior to using shaving cream, use a sharp blade and shave slowly.
An oatmeal facial can help sooth your skin if you suffer from acne. While many people know that an oatmeal bath can relieve the itching of a case of chicken pox, most are unaware that the same soothing effects can be used to gain relief from an acne breakout. Make up a batch of plain oatmeal, with no sugar, and allow it to cool. Apply to the face and allow it to dry. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.
Almost all people suffer from acne at some point in their lives, which is why it is so important to know the truth about this common skin condition. Being armed with the facts, allows you to deal with the problem in a suitable manner, seek the proper treatment and avoid misleading beliefs.
