There are several different types of people in the world, but only a small few have the characteristics and personality to succeed in Network Marketing. Regardless of skill set and ability, only a small percentage have what it takes to truly succeed.
Robert Kiyosaki touches on this important fact in his new book, "The Business Of The 21st Century." In the book he highlights Four types of people and the one that will succeed- not just for Network Marketing or moving from employee to entrepreneur but in life!
Here's the four highlighted types of people:
People who need to be LIKED: This person strives to make other people happy; they're always doing what they believe will make other people like them more. Because of this need they often follow along and maintain the status quo. They do what their peers are doing or friends are doing and rarely go against the grain. People who need to be liked rarely achieve wealth and financial independence because they'll never dare to dream- they'll never act on their own original ideas and dare to be different for fear that they may lose some friends or become dis-liked.
People who need to be COMFORTABLE: This person is rarely successful because they're unwilling to reach outside their comfort zone and try something new. Their desire to be comfortable will always trump their dreams or vision of creating a better life. At the end of the day, they're fine with sitting in front of the TV and doing what they've always done.
People who need to be RIGHT: This person has to be right at all costs. They rarely achieve great wealth because being right will paralyze them from trying something new and daring to make mistakes. It's not uncommon for entrepreneurs to fail three or four times before they find the right business model that works for them. People who always need to be right are afraid to try and fail. It's easier to never try and assume the alternative model would never work in the first place.
People who need to WIN: This person is perfect for Network Marketing, perfect for achieving great wealth and ultimately the only type of person that successfully moves from employee to entrepreneur. When all other fears, concerns and limits are trumped by one thing- the desire to win, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.
My prospecting and recruiting efforts are focused on people with this WINNING personality type. Winners aren't afraid to fail- they expect it. Every failure brings them closer to success. For winners it's not a matter of IF they'll make it, but WHEN. They reach outside their comfort zone to learn new things, they don't measure their own self worth in being "liked" by other people, and they certainly know someone else has a better way- they don't have to be right. They're coachable and willing to listen to a different perspective.
