Kevin has been working on farms as a chicken catcher and admits that he "aint good at math" when asked by one of the judges how many chickens he'd catch in a day. While the judges shook their heads in disbelief and the entire audience joined in with laughter, you could feel that all these people simply didn't take Kevin Skinner seriously enough.
They all laughed at Kevin Skinner.but when he began to sing.Garth Brooks' classic Country & Western song If Tomorrow Never Comes. it truly was as judge Piers Morgan said, "one of the most powerful performances I've seen in a long time!"
What's even more satisfying for me was that Kevin's emotionally powerful and pure performance had the cynical audience quiet as a mouse. I'm thinking hmmm.perhaps we should NOT be judging an individual on face value but rather provide them with a chance to express themselves. Let them have a "fair go" even as we say here in Australia!
And boy did Kevin Skinner show them to be ALL wrong! Well done son.well done!

Well, Kevin Skinner has gone from strength to strength and has released his debut AlbumLong Ride. I've also managed to locate a Live and Unplugged CD of Kevin Skinner's, however as a result of popular demand it appears that copies are currently unavailable. No harm in bookmarking this page if you're keen to really get your hands on it in future!
Kevin Skinner is just like many of us.
These would be the moments I live for.to be astonished by somebody like Kevin Skinner who originated from financially strapped circumstances, who made a strong decision and did whatever it took to fulfil his dream in being a super star country & western singer.
I'm sure we could all relate to being in a situation that is not even close to where we really want to be and feeling dissatisfied with the daily grind of a J.O.B. You know, there's always a "Kevin Skinner" inside our community who's worse off than many and my heart is out particularly to the farmers out in the world wanting to "make ends meet".
Having the confidence in you to ultimately take action and as the co-founder of empowernetwork.com said to me,
DON'T BE A WUSSY!"
was the push I personally needed to turn my life around.
