The bulk of this post is dedicated to Emotion but let me explain briefly what I mean by Value. People in general purchase products and services when they believe they're getting a good value for their money. Right!? When you buy a product you want more, 20% more for the same price, added value, something for FREE! As a Marketer, when you increase the value of your company, product or service above what a prospect is willing to pay- they're driven to action and buying NOW!!!
Most advertising analysts, however, will overwhelming argue that EMOTION is what drives prospects to ACT faster and in greater amounts than any other single factor. What do we mean by emotion?
When you drive your sales message straight to play on the emotions of your prospect, they will hear you. When you describe a personal scenario that your prospect can relate to, you build trust; when you describe how you can solve their problems, you build trust; when you share how your business has impacted your life, you pull on your prospects emotional strings.
Testimonials are key here. Testimonials drive emotion. Emotion drives ACTION!!! Stories help us inspire others and give them hope. So do yourself a favor and use them.
Listen, facts are important but they're used later in the process as the prospect does their due diligence and vets the opportunity. It's not your company's product, growth, comp plan or impressive statistics that make prospects join your Network Marketing opportunity.
These two characteristics, emotion and value, become the corner stones of any successful prospecting effort. And sadly, the reasons for most Network Marketing Apprentice failure. Let me explain-- too many entry level marketers try to sell or convince their prospects. The minute they start selling their prospects "flight-response" is activate and they look for the nearest exit. It's a natural response-- think about it for a second. When the body feels threatened, certain biological functions slow or stop working altogether-- hearing being one. The body is preparing to flee or fight and cognitive function is limited to developing an escape route or action plan of attack.
So, for goodness sake. Stop selling! I give plenty of recruiting tips in our 30 Day Boot Camp-- If you haven't started reading already, join us today. It's not your job to sell, convince, or persuade by explaining every detail about your product, compensation plan, or quick start opportunity! In fact, doing so will most likely kill your business before you even get started.
