The human head louse is a true parasite. They suck blood from the human scalp to feed, and will perish within hours if dislodged from their human host. If you want to get rid of these bothersome parasites from your hair must know how to check for lice.

Head lice spread and infest new hosts through physical contact between hosts. Children, therefore, are the most likely to have head lice. Lice bites can cause a range of problems on skin, such as infections, itchiness and rashes, although these parasites do not usually spread any threatening diseases.

In this composition, we're going to take a look at an effective method of checking for head lice with a magnifying glass. The first step is to part hair into small segments, next, with the magnifying glass, inspect individual sections. Note that you should move to a room that is brightly-lit. It should be that much easier to spot lice in a well-illuminated room.

The first area you should check is the back of head, beginning from the nape of the neck and up. Part hair from the crown and work your way down, and start checking for lice and nits from the base of the hairline. Inspect the scalp for lice and the hair shafts for nits. Nits, which resemble small, white dandruff-like specks on hair, are found firmly clinging to hair and can be removed simply by dislodging them with twizzers or fingernails.

After checking the parting down the middle of the head, part hair into small sections on either side (right and left) of the original parting. Check the entire head, going through each on either side of the center parting. Look closely for lice and nits along individual hair strands and the scalp. Carry on until you have covered the whole back area. With the back covered, start checking the front areas. Check for lice and nits on the front similarly.

In case of an infestation, it must be treated as soon as possible. First, thoroughly clean bedroom fabrics such as bedding and bedsheets and items of clothing to control the spread. Start washing your hair with a strong anti-lice shampoo, immediately after disinfecting personal-use items. In some cases, a lice problem may may be best managed with more than one elimination strategy, to be eliminated completely. Keep in mind, if one individual in a household has a lice problem, make sure you check each and everyone in the house as lice are known to thrive in group settings. That's why it's important to know how to check for lice in different hair types.

How do kids get lice? Does Lysol kill lice? How can you tell if you have bed bugs? It seems, if there's a pest, there is a plethora of questions surrounding it.
