Have you ever heard of Canopic Jars from Egypt? For those you who just heard of this, Canopic jars were used by the Ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the internal organs of their owner in preparation for the afterlife. They were usually either carved from limestone or were made of pottery.
About a week ago, my Boyfriend just asks me if I could make a project for his Niece about making Recycled Pencil Case. I was watching a documentary film about mummifications and I have this crazy idea to make Canopic jars out from Recycled Materials for the said Recycled Art Project.
"Ancient Egyptian Canopic Jars made out from Recycled Materials"
Here are the Steps in making the jars:
1. Get the necessary materials needed.
* Pringles jar
* Glue
* Paint Brushes
* Acrylic Paints (color: white, yellow, copper or bronze)
* News Papers
*Scotch Tape
* Needle and Thread
2. Cover the Pringles jar with patch newspapers and let it dry for at least 24 hours.
3. Mold the newspapers to form the cover for the Canopic jars. After molding the newspapers, cover them with tissue papers and glue. Let it dry over night to harden the glue or if you don't have time, use can use a blow-dryer.
4. After the Molded newspapers have been dried, get a needle and thread to attach your piece of art into the Pringles Jar Cover. You can then start you painting.
Attached the Cover and the Pringels jar altogether and paint the details. Used acrylic for your paint as it last longer.
