I came across a recent statistic that indicates work at home businesses last at least three years in more than two thirds of all cases. Most other traditional storefront jobs last an average of a year. One of the keys to the success of work at home businesses is a greatly reduced overhead and a vested interest in the success of a job that allows the worker to stay home.
Some have estimated that more than 50 million individuals will return home to work over the next few years effectively doubling the current roster of at home workers.
The profile of an at home worker is extremely varied with a significant number coming from all conceivable ethnicities and comprise both make and female workers. One misconception is that work at home jobs are primarily for moms. The truth is there are more men who have children at home that are involved in an at home job than women in the same scenario.
One of the more interesting attributes of an at home worker is in education. While 20 of at home workers earn more than $100,000 annually there are relatively few of those workers who possess a college degree.
I think it is possible that the lack of a degree or academic title can allow you to consider more options in employment. I do believe education to be very important, but in the field of work at home jobs it is interesting to note that education actually appears to be a stumbling block to potential success.
It’s interesting to note that second income earners in most homes actually pay four dollars more per day than they actually earn? This is factored in things like wardrobe, insurance, gas, clothing and childcare.
What happens is the worker will observe their ability to pay bills and assume they are helping their family. Many would be surprised to learn they might actually be further ahead to stay home and do no work at all than to put themselves through everything they face in the traditional workplace.
It is interesting to many at home workers to find that their contribution to the family income increases dramatically from home. There may still be some childcare required, but in most cases there is an almost immediate reversal of fortunes.
Obviously you will need to find the best work at home job or create your own home based business, but the point is the majority of home based business startups are still successful three years down the line. Start up is not contingent on owning a degree and it is possible to earn much more from your at home work than you were ever able to do in a traditional job.
Even if you determine you could give a work from home opportunity a test drive you need to know that about half of those individuals who use a work at home job as supplemental income will morph their part time business into a fulltime job.
One of the best things about working from home is that you can start small and work a ‘sideline’ into a fulltime job.
