After the summer that we've had (or lack-of), it's not surprising that many people are choosing to jet off to warmer climes. What is surprising however, is how many people put little to no thought into what they're going to wear whilst travelling. Sure, they've packed sun-cream and swimming costumes, insect repellent and even a first aid kit, but the one thing that seems to get overlooked is what they're going to wear whilst actually flying.
It may not seem like a particularly important concern. But consider it this way - you've saved up for ages and put a lot of effort into planning your perfect holiday, and you arrive in your desired location looking like someone that's just crawled out of bed. Not really the best start is it?
In future, just follow these few simple tips and you need never get it wrong again.
- Comfort
Of course, above all else you want to be comfortable. There's nothing worse than being on a crowded plane and constantly shifting around in your seat. All because you thought it would be a good idea to wear those uber-tight (albeit awesome-looking) trousers that 'ride-up' in all the wrong places. Remember looking stylish is as much about being comfortable as it is about wearing the right clothes.
- Practicality
It's important to ensure that whatever you wear is practical for travelling. For a start, wearing lots of layers is not a particularly good idea. The most obvious reason being, that if you get hot whilst on the plane, there's limited storage space and it's much wiser to use that space for items that are actually necessary. The main reason however, is rather more compelling. Statistics show that one of the most common ways that people misplace their passports is by tucking it 'safely' into a pocket and then forgetting which pocket they put it into! Fewer layers equal less pockets, so save yourself time and stress and always try to travel as lightly as you can.
- Luggage
The one thing that many people overlook, even those who do put thought into what they wear when travelling, is their luggage. The simple fact is that a bag can make or break an outfit, and luggage is no exception. There's so much choice nowadays - there's literally something to suit every taste, style and budget, so there's really no excuse for getting it wrong.
- Express Yourself
Lastly, whether flying, on a night out, or just chilling out with friends, the most important thing to remember when choosing any outfit, is to trust your own instincts. Don't just blindly follow trends, get creative, be yourself and before you know it you'll be starting trends of your own. In the world of fashion, it's the leaders that are remembered, not the followers.
So if you're lucky enough to be jetting off to somewhere sunny in the near future, remember to take that little bit of extra time to decide what you're going to wear. Ensure that you make it a holiday to remember, for all the right reasons.
