Getting married in Italy is a dream come true. After your wedding in Italy it will be time to enjoy your Italy honeymoon. Choosing an Italy honeymoon destination is easy if you follow my five tips to choosing a perfect Italy honeymoon destination:
Step 1: What time of year are you getting married in Italy?
Before choosing an Italy Honeymoon Destination, you need to know the time of year that you are getting married in Italy. For instance, if you are getting married in Italy in the summer, then you may want to chose a coastal Italy honeymoon destination as the cities tend to be hot and crowded. Both the Amalfi Coast and Portofino are stunning. Also, you would be able to choose from the many Italian islands like Capri, Sardinia and the Aeolians. However if you are getting married in the winter, these Italy honeymoon destinations may not be as beautiful and vibrant in the colder months. During this time you may want to consider a city vacation like Rome, Florence or even Venice.
Step 2: What do you want to do on your honeymoon?
After your wedding in Italy is complete you will have to decide whether you just want to relax and enjoy the area that you were married in or travel to a new destination during your Italy honeymoon. If you want to be active after your wedding in Italy, then the cities are better as they have more to see and do. Here are some ideas: In Tuscany you can travel to the small medieval towns and vineyards for wine and olive oil tastings. In Rome you can visit the Vatican and other historical monuments. In Florence you can see the famous David sculpture and the art of the Uffizi Museum. However, if you just want to unwind and relax after your wedding in Italy then you may want to rent a private villa in Tuscany with a great view. You could also head to one of the Italian islands and sit on the beach and soak in the Italian sunshine!
Step 3: How much time do you have to spend on your Italy honeymoon?
If you only have a few days, you may want to choose an Italy honeymoon destination that is close to where your wedding in Italy took place. For instance, if you had an Amalfi Coast wedding, a perfect honeymoon destination is the island of Capri. Or if you were married in Portifino then maybe Lake Como or Sardinia will be a better choice as they are closer. If your wedding in Italy took place in Florence then you may want to consider the seaside village of Lucca or even Chianti for your Italy honeymoon. However, if you have a few weeks off from work and responsibilities then you may want to consider getting a train pass and traveling around the entire country or possibly booking a villa. The choice is yours!
Step 4: Do you want to explore the country?
Italy is a small country and has a great train system. You can easily get from one place to the next within a few hours. This will allow you to visit many parts of Italy during your Italy honeymoon. In fact once your wedding in Italy is complete you can hop on a train where a first class ticket is inexpensive and be in another amazing city by lunch!
Step 5: What is your budget?
Some areas of Italy are very seasonal and finding an amazing hotel, can be very expensive. For instance, if you wanted to spend your Italy honeymoon in Italy s famous summer destination of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, expect to spend a lot of money. However, there are many small towns and more inexpensive places on the island of Sardinia to spend your Italy honeymoon. The key is to try to travel in shoulder season. The weather is usually still good, the crowds are less and the prices are cheaper.
So as you see there are just a few things to think about before booking your Italy honeymoon destination.
