In the electricity and gas industry there once was no competition but energy deregulation has changed that. Creating competition now breaks up the monopoly and creates better rates. Currently, about half of the U.S. states have been deregulated in either electricity or gas or in some cases both. Energy deregulation has set forth creation of a number of new companies to capture a portion of this huge industry.
In the United States alone, each month we collectively pay $297 Billion yearly on electricity. If we combine natural gas in the equation, the yearly payment is a huge $500 Billion. That is a $41.6 Billion a month that we as a nation pay every single month.
Basically, energy is something that every household, business, industry and organization of all kind need and use on a daily basis. Non-profit organizations can use this energy deregulation opportunity to raise funds that can provide those funds month in and month out - even in touch economic times. So imagine those organizations capturing a percentage of payments every single month on a product that every person needs and buys in the U.S. This is a product that needs no education on what it is, or convincing someone to purchase something that may not even need. Energy is self evident product; a commodity of necessity.
Think about the ability to show lower electricity and gas rates due to the deregulation of energy's competitive intensions. If most people knew that choice was available, they would take advantage of choosing a better rate from one of the many new energy suppliers. So therein lays the issue - Education, Knowledge and Awareness.
The new services that are emerging up to seize this growth marketplace and sector are eager to dominate the states they are in and the new states that are being energy deregulated each day and month. In turn, to be able to capture a portion of the rising growth, these programs have to have new representative to spread the word to the public.
