Figuring out what kind of vehicle you should get is both incredibly exciting as well as incredibly daunting. Often times, we tend to purchase vehicles based on emotion rather than reason. We don t thoroughly think through our decisions to find a vehicle that is well suited to our lifestyle, and therefore we wind up paying the consequences for our poor decisions later on down the line. For example, many people don t realize that they could have saved themselves thousands of dollars in vehicle expenses if they had only taken the opportunity to purchase a car instead of a sport utility vehicle.
What kind of a lifestyle do you lead? Are you the kind of person who does a lot of city driving, or are you the kind of person who drives mainly on the highways? Do your business travels take you out of state often, and if they do, then what kind of driving are you engaging in there? On the other hand, are you working for a company that pays for you to have a company car? If this is the case then you may not even need a car; and if you do, it can probably be something that is not necessarily as good on gasoline since you probably won t be driving it as often.
There is a very good reason why all vehicles don t come in the same color: this is because various colors appeal to different people. For example, I cannot understand why anyone would want to purchase a green car. However, there are some people who would completely disagree from me. If you go to the car dealership, you will also notice that there are sometimes price discrepancies between different vehicles based on the color of the vehicle. Therefore, if you pick out a vehicle that is red, silver, black or gray, you may or may not be paying more money for it than you had planned. Also, sometimes the reason why a particular color is more or less expensive is due to demand and production. If there are only a few cars that are painted a particular color, then you are going to pay more for it.
Your vehicle that you purchase should be one that will last you a long time. If you are clueless as to where your vehicle search should begin, you may want to enlist the help of a friend or family member who is more experienced in the car buying process. Unfortunately, if you are a woman, you will definitely want to bring someone with you to a dealership especially if you don t know that much about cars. Often times, shrewd salespeople will prey upon unsuspecting customers asking them questions to determine how they can make the most money off of a potential sale (since they work off of a commission). Having someone with you who can field questions and act as a sort of buffer will allow you to really hear and absorb what the sales person is or isn t telling you.
