Those who desire to improve tend to use this negative notion as their number one motivation to improve.

Another misconception about self esteem is that people tend to think that in order to feel better about themselves and achieve a high sense of self worth, they need to become someone that they are not. They feel as though they need to live someone else’s life, they need to emulate every single aspect of the confident person they admire.
Achieving a great sense of self esteem is about being comfortable in one’s own skin. If you can’t feel good about being yourself then you won’t ever feel good about yourself. It is being true to the person that you are, and confident that people love you for what you are. Never fake being someone that you are not, because once the illusion breaks, you are left broken even more than you may have started out.
