Your wedding day should always be one of special memories – not just for the bride and groom but for everyone involved. I had thought about my wedding since I was a little girl, using my Mother’s clothes as props and my neighbour Sanjeev who was a year younger than me.

My husband and I were heavily involved in every intricate detail in the planning of the big day. With my husband being in the internet marketing sector he was able to deal with our suppliers and ensure we got the best deals and rates with them. We both wanted our wedding to be one to remember and Indian weddings have a reputation to be grand and spectacular so we had a lot of planning to do.

On our wedding day the weather was glorious and our wish for a bright sunny day had been granted. The outfit I wore was stunning it was a dusky pink lengha which was made from chiffon material. The dress was a unique design which was made by my Great auntie. She beautifully covered the dress in silver embroidery which made the dress really special.

As our culture and family originate from Rajasthan we wanted to keep to their tradition and I accessorised my outfit with a borla, payal and a co ordinated chura. To top the outfit off I wore some dazzling pink kundan jewellery. I had never worn so much jewellery and I felt like a fairytale princess.

My husband looked the part too and I was very proud and happy to be marrying him and welcoming him to my family. The sherwani he wore colour co ordinated with my outfit. His outfit complimented the Rajasthan theme too which involved a hand tied talwar and a claret shawl.

Sometimes we go to so many weddings, especially Indian ones and they can all blend into the same occasion. We wanted ours to be more personalised and stand out for other people. My husband and I both share the love of food and we often make dinners together. We had spent hours shopping for Indian spices to ensure the food tasted perfectly and so that all of our guests could appreciate and enjoy the wonderful dishes provided.

Our dishes included starters from samosa, fish and sheek kebabs to main dishes of all varieties of daal, masala, aloo with chapattis. The list goes on and we were complimented on the quality and the delicious tastes of the food. Let’s just say that there weren’t many leftovers.

The whole day went into the early hours of the next morning as we drank and danced away. We had over 200 guests attend our big day and maybe I am being bias but I would go as far as saying it was the ‘Indian wedding of the year’. Many of our guests wished us well after the day and were still buzzing after our joyous and emotional occasion. I got married over two years ago and it was definitely the best day of my life.
