Does cellulite really exist? It is called cellulite fat . Is it the same as ordinary body fat? What causes it? How to treat it? Cellulite is the name given to the lumpy, irregular fat deposits often found around the hips, buttocks and upper leg areas. It is sometimes described as orange peel skin because of the dimpled appearance of the affected areas.

It appears in 90 of post adolescent women, even those who put a lot of effort into keeping their bodies slim and well toned, but is rarely seen in men.

No one knows what causes cellulite. One possible explanation which also explains why very few men suffer from cellulite is based on the composition and behavior of women s fat cells and the connective tissue that holds them in place. Very simply, a woman s connective tissue is very inflexible, so as she gains weight and her fat cells expand, they tend to bulge upwards towards the surface of the skin, giving the classic orange peel appearance of cellulite.

There are many ways to treat cellulite. Physical activities such as exercises, strict diet and giving up sedentary lifestyle help a lot reducing fat and cellulite condition from the body. There are no easy ways to lose cellulite fat. Even reducing fat in the normal way by eating less and exercising more may not do the trick. Women with a relatively low body fat percentage can still retain cellulite fat. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that losing weight while maintaining a vigorous lower body exercise routine will definitely help.

Creams and gels form the bulk of cellulite treatments that are marketed. Many of these contain ingredients that have been shown to stimulate metabolism of fat in laboratory experiments, but none have been clinically proven to have a significant or long lasting effect in studies on patients.

You should also give up certain high calorie, high fat and high carbohydrate diet that can turn into fats and can get stored in the body.Body wrapping involves a process of enveloping parts of the body with linens permeated with a variety of substances such as herbal extracts, algae, seaweed, and mud. The skin is brushed or massaged evenly with any one of these products and then covered in linens. The body shaping effect is the result of the combined action of perspiration and compression, which leads to a reduction of body dimensions. This effect is mainly due to the loss of fluids and is only temporary. These wraps are generally beneficial for relaxation, as well as softening the skin, but they do not reduce cellulite.

Popular medical procedures like liposuction are advertised as fat busters or and promise almost instant cellulite elimination. The reality is that fat cannot ever be completely be eliminated without serious health reprecussions. Even after liposuction, fat and cellulite will come back and the dangers of such an invasive process are often much worse than the problem of unaesthetic cellulite.

Some people recommend intense massages. Even a massage with light pressure can change help eliminate excess fluids and toxins. You should also exercise regularly, which is true to every aspect of your health and wellbeing. While there s no proof, there s a lot of speculation that poor blood flow is an important factor in cellulite formation.
