The excavation of a campfire on the site of the current Shangri–La hotel has revealed that, more than 500 years ago, a group of Aborigines forgot some of Australia’s the Cadigal tribe prepared a tempting meal of bream, rock oysters and other shellfish there – no doubt enjoying the superb views across Sydney Harbour.
