If you are looking for a place to have your perfect vacation, and you enjoy a plethora of cultural entertainment and white sandy bleaches, then St. Petersburg is your destination. Among the many things for them to do, there is a hands on children s museum called Great Explorations. In this museum, there are so many different activities that your little one will want to stay for hours to have more fun. The museum includes a make believe grocery store sponsored by Publix, a horizontal climbing wall, and some terrific role playing areas, like Engine Company 15 and St. Pizza. They will be so busy having fun, that the time will pass before they know it. They will not only be having fun, though. They will also be learning. On the second floor of Great Explorations, there is an entire section based on the environment with activities and presentations that will teach your children and keep them enthralled.
There are also many different family adventures to be had. The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary offers the experience of seeing, up close, birds that you would other wise not be able to see. The site was opened and 1971 and is considered to be one of the largest rehabilitation centers for wild birds in the United States. It is home to several different species of sea birds, like pelicans, as well as different species of vulture and several birds of prey. Among the birds of prey is Isis, a half blind red tailed hawk. Isis has been living in the sanctuary since 1990 because she is blind in one eye and cannot hunt without depth perception. At the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, you will have the opportunity to see all different types of beautiful birds, both domestic and exotic. Some of these beautiful creatures are permanent residents because the have been injured and will not survive in the wild.
You can also visit the beautiful and lush Sunken Gardens, a sink hole that was converted into a garden park. There you will see all kinds of beautiful plants and flowers, as well as exotic birds and gorgeous butterflies, all while being five feet under the street level. Konger Tarpon Springs Aquarium is a terrific place to see all kinds of beautiful and exotic fish and water dwelling creatures like alligators, as well as snapping turtles and sharks. The beaches at St. Petersburg also offer many different and exciting opportunities. From Egmont Key State Park to historic Fort De Soto Park, you will find everything that you need for you and your family to have a great time in Florida without the expensive entertainment of Miami.
