If you find yourself always behind on your housework, or having to do a huge cleanup of the house a few times a year, you may benefit from daily routines.
By doing a little housework each day, the mess and dirt won't pile up as much. By setting a daily routine that you follow each day, you'll be able to stay on top of your housework.
Here are six simple steps you can take on a daily basis that will help keep your home clean and organized.
1. Make the beds when you wake up.
As soon as you get out of bed, make the beds. This is essential to do when you first wake up, because you may forget about it later. Straighten your sheets and fluff your pillows so your bed will be nice and fresh when you go back to bed at night.
2. Attack the bathroom.
If you do what is essential in the bathroom on a daily basis, you won't have to do as much on a daily basis. Wipe down the counters everyday, as well as the sink and the faucet. This doesn't take very much time at all and it will help with the clean up time in the future. You can also use a commercially made daily shower spray to spray down the shower door and tiles on a daily basis to keep down on mildew.
3. Pick up items as you go throughout the day.
While you are in the house during the day or during the night, pick up things while you see them. If you see books, toys, paper or other items out of place in your travels, simply put them back where they belong. Make sure the rest of your household members are doing the same and you'll have a clutter-free house in no time.
4. Make the living area clean.
At the end of the day, make sure your living room area is tidy. Make sure all throws and blankets are folded. You can also fluff the coach pillows, make sure that coffee tables are clear of clutter and the surfaces are clean. Use a glass cleaner to clean off the sliding glass door. Vacuum at least once a week.
5. Tidy up the kitchen.
After the dishes are done for the day, make sure to wipe down the kitchen counters so they'll stay clean. Put away anything on the counters that doesn't belong in the kitchen. You can keep the kitchen cleaner by getting into the habit of rinsing dishes right after you use them. Encourage the rest of your household members to do the same and there will be much less work to do in the kitchen.
6. Keep the trash under control.
Use small trashcans throughout the house to keep trash under control. You can use plastic shopping bags to line your small trash cans. Check all of the cans right before dinner and transport the small trash bags to the large kitchen trash in order to take it outside.
