A PC starts to run slower as soon as it is set up, whether of the desktop or laptop variety. It is not because the PC purchased was of a lower quality. There are measures that must be taken on a regular basis to speed up PC functions.
Obviously a good anti-virus program must be used and you do not necessarily have to pay for one. There are good programs that are free that will protect your computer adequately. A virus entering will not usually make your PC crash, but it will make it run slower. In addition, the anti-virus program should be run at least on a weekly basis. In addition on many anti-virus programs you must make it your business to update the program. It will not do it on its own. This is an easy and not a time-consuming task. Doing these tasks will speed up PC functions.
Two other measures that have to be done regularly, without fail, are related. In your control panel the disk cleanup should be run, and right after this the disk defragmenter should be run too. The disk cleanup will free space on your hard drive, while the disk defragmenter will get rid of fragments and put your hard drive in order. These two measures will noticeably speed up your computer.
Finally, there is a program called by the same name as to what it does. C (crap) cleaner. This will take out registry errors and empty the unneeded caches that build up. These caches can also be emptied through the Internet Explorer (IE) tools button, but the C Cleaner does a better job of cleaning. The C Cleaner program will have to be updated periodically.
An anti-virus program itself will slow up your computer but this cannot be helped. The more information and programs put into your computer, the slower it will run. Having too many items on the start bottom bar means the computer will take longer to boot up. Unnecessary items can be removed from the start up area by going into the control panel.
But, if the simple methods enumerated are followed, a faster computer will result.
