Google Talk is a widely growing in popularity from its existence from a couple years ago. Many people are switching over to Google Talk because it has handfuls of useful features that its competitors Yahoo Messager, MSN Messager, and Skpe do not have. Not to mention a ton of people have a Gmail account and you can simply use your username and password in order to start chatting with family and friends.

Cross Messaging Compatible

However, it has been noted that people on other messaging programs do not like to constantly sign in and out of their messaging service. You can now communicate with other people using different other services using the "nomutex" option.

This can really save you a lot of time and hassle that other programs do not offer. For instance, if you wanted to talk to someone that was using Yahoo Messager you would have to sign up for an account and then activate it. Then you you would have to sign in using your Yahoo username and password. However, with Google Talk there is no need to have a million different messager ID's because you can do everything you need from one single account.

Click To Call Service

Have you heard of the popular Click-to-Call service that is offered by Google and now eBay? At the time of writing this it is testing for Google, but the basic idea behind this is tit allows users to call a merchant directly. On eBay just by clicking the link on their page. This is great for doing business transactions and talking with potential clients and customers.

Also at this time Click-to-Call only does work with Google Maps but will be integrated into their system in the near future. So typically you are searching for a diner to eat through Google Maps, and you want to make an reservation, you would simply click the "connect for free" button and be connected with the business. However, it should be noted that you can only do this for businesses located in the United States, as of right now.

The good thing is Google does not share your number but will only have the phone number appear on your caller ID, when and where Google will connect you to. Just bear in mind that you do have to do this within the United States and will be charged if you are traveling out of the US and trying to use this feature.
