Barclays Bank, who sponsor the English Premier League, have been holding a competition in India to locate the country’s biggest soccer fan, in the “Biggest Fan of India” competition.
They started their quest more than six months ago and thousands upon thousands of soccer followers from all around the gigantic continent applied for this award, sending in scrapbooks, video clips, photographs with long correspondence in confirmation of their statements.
The judges, including the ex-Man Utd heroes Gary Pallister in addition to Bryan Robson, must have had a arduous time trying to settle on a winner from such a sizable pool of entrants, nevertheless they finally determined to give the prize of 2 VIP tickets to a Premier League match to Aby Baby Kuruvilla, who had sent in a videotape of him singing long and avidly on the subject of his beloved Arsenal Football club!

Even Arsene Wenger welcomed Aby to the Emirates, and was happy that an Arsenal supporter was crowned as the best soccer fanatic in India. He said: “We are proud to have so many fans all over the world supporting Arsenal Football Club. We are delighted that Aby has won this special prize and we are truly grateful for his support towards Arsenal from so far away.
We hope that Aby has a memorable trip to Emirates Stadium.”
It is amazing to be told of the fact that Barclays Premier League matches (380 a season) are beamed to over five hundred million homes everywhere in the planet, however this match is probably among the most important for this season.
