The United Kingdom has just recovered from one of the biggest recessions in its history, with record numbers of people turning out to the job centre to sign on and look for work and even more not signing on it has been a difficult period for companies and the government as everyone searches for not the ideal job, but any jobs. East Anglia has taken a large hit when it comes to the levels of unemployment, but thanks to the schemes employed by the government it has managed to turn things around.
One of the problems that the job centres were facing was the enormous numbers of people who were coming through the doors at the job centre looking to sign on and looking for jobs. East Anglia trialled a new online registration campaign where people could register to sign on for job seekers allowance simply by filling out a form on the internet. These people then received a phone call back to check their details and before being sent an interview date to meet the staff at the job centre.
It seemed to work well as more people stopped phoning through taking up valuable time of the job centre staff allowing them to get on with the important role of interviewing new potential claimants and helping them look for available jobs. East Anglia has been boosted by a number of local companies that have helped to help the region through the tough economic time. More start-up businesses have been created to fill the void that was left by the sudden loss of money in the industry.
When it comes to jobs, East Anglia is lucky to have a number of industries that have brought a lot of new age technology to the region. We have the technological corridor in Cambridge which has brought such companies like Microsoft to the table and while some industries have seen a decline, website and computer sectors have managed to remain static.
Now the country has official recovered from recession, the people around the country will be hoping that we don't see another recession like this for a long time. Also it is a perfect opportunity for people who are still unemployed to look for their ideal jobs. East Anglia has been through a particularly tough time over the last few years and they will be hoping that with the Olympics and other sporting events coming to the local region over the next few years it will boost the struggling economy and make up for the last year and a half of down times.
