Scan For Viruses
Everyone experiences a virus from time to time, and with the internet the spread of viruses is so prevalent. You really must have an antivirus program on your computer. It's essential. You need to make sure it's set to auto-protect, and that you do a full scan every week or two.
Okay, so what I want you to do now is to check whether you have any antivirus software on your computer. If you have then that's fine, but if you haven't then get one immediately. If you can't afford to buy one, then search Google for a free one.
Clean The Hard Disk
The More you use your computer, the more your hard drive is likely to get bogged down with all the files and programs. This will slow it down, and eventually you will need to have a bit of a hard drive clean-out. To do this, run the Disk Cleanup utility by right clicking on your hard disk, clicking Properties, and then Tools.
Another thing you must do is to defragment your hard disk. You can do this by using the Disk Defragmenter tool which can be found in the same location as the Disk Cleanup tool.
It’s also worth running the Disk Check tool, which can be accessed by going to My Computer, right clicking on your hard drive, clicking Properties and then selecting the Tools tab.
Windows Boot CD
The other thing to consider is that Windows itself might have developed serious errors. If you think this might be the case, then try booting via the Windows CD, and run the diagnostic tools that are on the CD. Or if that doesn't work, it might be time to install Windows all over again. But if you do that, be sure to backup your files first.
