In the same way you need to market your website in order to receive visitors and in turn receive sales, you also need to do whatever you can in order to make your free ads as visible as possible. More visibility means more visitors which means more sales for your item! Now for something like a classified ads site, people aren't going to be bidding on your item. This isn't eBay - thank god! So you need to make sure that you do a few things in order to have your ad be seen. First off, don't make the content too long.
Descriptions, features and details are a good thing. But, making them too long can oftentimes just discourage people and they will run away from your ad quicker than you can say alakazam! Second off, use correct coloring when doing your ads. Just because you CAN use yellow and neon green, doesn't mean you should. Try to stick with primary colors like red, blue, black or green (regular green!). You can also add additional options to your fonts as well such as bold and underline. Remember not to "scream" aka use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
Not only is this offense, but it's hard to read and hurts a lot of people's eyes! Next off, if you want to really get people to see your ad, go for a paid ad. I know I know. Free free free. But, hey sometimes spending a few dollars can mean a lot for a sale! Just by adding on a few measly dollars to push your ad up to the top of every page on the site, you could seriously bring some major visibility benefits to your ad! Remember, more visits means more of a chance to make more of a sale - or sales! Lastly, use clean pictures.
Make sure the photos are clear. If they are smudgy or you can't see the product right, you need to take some new photos! Also, if the product is something like a cell phone, take four photos - one of the front of the phone, one of the back of the phone, one of the box (if there is one), and one of the phone and the box. This shows people that it really is the item you have, and this isn't just some scam you are trying to pull for online classified ads! Post some free ads and see what you get - who knows, this might be your newest forte!
