E-Liquid is a solution of propylene glycol, nicotine, water and flavorings that are used in conjunction with the now popular electronic cigarette. It is what is used on the atomizer of the e cigarette to produce the vapor that looks, tastes and feels like regular tobacco smoke. It was first made for the e cigarette in China in 2004 and has become wildly popular because of the rise of the electronic cigarette in the United States with smokers.
It is now estimated that 1 out of every 40 smokers in the U.S. are now using the electronic cigarette and no slacking in it’s increase in popularity is expected in the near future. Part of the reason for the popularity is the flavors are easy and fairly cheap to produce, giving the smoker or “vaper” many choices in the choices of e-liquid. There are many flavors ranging from fruit to traditional tobacco flavors to keep every smoker happy.
There are other benefits to this e liquid also since there are less than 20 chemicals in it compared to over 4,000 in traditional tobacco. This there are a lot less stuff going into your body as a smoker and none of it is burnt since there is no combustion in the process with e liquid and electronic cigarettes.
With all of the benefits that e liquid gives the smoker, and the major drop in the numbers of chemicals in e liquid compared to tobacco smoke, it is a wonder that 20 out of 40 smokers have not made the switch to e liquid and the e cigarette.
Propylene glycol is the mass of the liquid in general and it is used in asthma inhalers and foods across the U.S. and is on the FDA GRAS list, which stands for ‘generally recognized as safe”. The nicotine is a pharmaceutical grade product derived from tobacco that is also used in the transdermal patches, gum and lozenges that are sold on the open market at any store in the U.S.
The flavorings that are used are all accepted and on the FDA’s food flavoring list, and it is amazing how good and accurate the flavorings are compared to the real thing.
Some are questioning and even misleading the public into believing that there may be harmful ingredients in the product, but since everything is already approved by the FDA as individual products for out food sources, it may be hard for special interest to keep running misleading ad campaigns on this amazing new product.
