Trips, travels and vacations sometimes need to have a change of pace and atmosphere. When it comes to traveling, almost everyone thinks of highly cosmopolitan European cities that have enough nature in them for the tourists to feel adventurous but enough urbanity for the tourists to feel comfortable. Somehow, this type of thinking limits the learning and experience that comes with traveling. And really, we only get to see one of the world that way. The other parts of the world may not be as familiar for us but can give us a deeper and richer experience. A trip to India may be able to give you this deeper and richer experience with all the architectural wonders weaved intricately with its culture and history. If you're willing to discover it, you'll find that northern India would peak your interest.

Learning in the North

In the north is the worldwide wonder that India has contributed to mankind, the Taj Mahal. For a structure that the entire mankind has always looked up to and owned, it is interesting to note that this amazing piece of architecture was built for something very personal. The Taj Mahal was built as an elaborate gift for the wife of Mogul emperor, Shah Jahan sometime in the 1600s. Perhaps the riches of the said emperor were so vast then, that plain jewelry could not impress his wife. He had to build a structure for her that would last for centuries to come.

Experiences in the North

Rajasthan, on the other, gives you a feel of the Indian culture. Here, you can see the various Indian customs and traditions that you'd be better off experiencing than just watching in the Discovery channel. In learning about Indian culture in this area, palaces of Rajasthan are most recommended.

Serenity in the North

Northern India is not only host to the historical and cultural, but also the natural and the scenic. Hill stations like Pradesh and Uttaranchal are popular with tourists because of the amazing views they offer. Travelers should also visit Qutub Minar, Hawa Mahal, Jama Masjod, and the Golden Temple for the same reasons. Of course, there is the oft-cited Himalayan mountain range that has been a place of contemplation and serenity for many famous people and fictional characters alike.
