By doing this, you are interrupting the emergency message that your brain is sending to your adrenal glands and would help you to calm down. Use coping statements. Pati McDermott says that “a coping statement is a positive statement that is at least as strong as the catastrophic statement that you have been scaring yourself with”. Lastly, accept your feelings. Know what the reasons that make you afraid of something are. Once you know your fears, you would know what to do in order for you not to be afraid of them anymore.
