Maximising your traffic is round getting lots of people onto your site and getting them to look at as a lot of pages as impending, whether they are looking at them in that visit or returning tomorrow, next week or whenever to browse for updates and new products. You want them to think of your website as one of their favoured shops where they regularly shop at, or favourite websites where they read all new posts from.

Tip 1 - Sign Up To Google Adsense - It can be high-priced, so take this one with care, but produce some pay per click (PPC) adverts and you should see your visitors levels increasing straight away.

Tip 2 - Write Some Articles - Write and publish, then write a few more! Each one can have a small search engine optimisation advantage, but also people reading the article might then wander over to your website after seeing what you have to say. Combined with a reason to visit the web site, this can produce loads of cheap traffic, even though you are paying for someone to write the articles!

TIp 3 - Get Involved In Other Web-sites - Look through blogs on other web-sites, leave sensible, helpful comments and a few people reading these comments should in the end wander over to your own site. This only works when the people reading your comments benefit from them and see that they add to the content on that weblog.

Tip 4 - Remember To Promote Your Web site - Far too frequently I have to remind customers to include site address in local press adverts. Also, put it on receipts, over the door of your shop and anywhere that your customers may see it. If they don't know that it exists, how can they go to see it and tell their friends to visit?

Tip 5 - Put forward A Referral Bonus - Only really for the shop or at least a product on offer, but give present customers a reward for referring a friend. Easy to do and should generate a lot of new business!

Tip 6 - Special Offers - This does not just apply to shops! Sites can do it to. For example, offer a free ebook or discount code for signing up to the e-newsletter. This encourages them to give you their email address, so that you can then lure them back to your web site. Give the offer of ebook, then offer a new offer the next month or an additional ebook the next week so that they pay attention to your weekly newsletter and look forward to it. They will keep reading and visiting your website for more information!

Tip 7 - Give Your Reader More To Read - If they don't like the product they are looking at, or have got to the bottom of your fascinating article, don't just let them leave the site! Make sure that at this part of the page there are alternative products or additional related articles for them to read. Don't lose your reader just because they have reached the end of what they were looking at!

Tip 8 - Don't Bother Them With Too Much - Plenty of flash animations, movement on the screen and too lots of add positions are all recipes for upsetting your traffic and scaring them away. Don't do them!

They are my favourite tips for maximising your visitors - get more people onto your site and keep them on!
