Are you someone who has stinky breath? If you are, then an effective cure for bad breath or halitosis would be a welcome relief to you since your disgusting breath is probably a major embarrassment. In order to save yourself from this embarrassment, I am fairly certain that you have desperately tried to locate a bad breath treatment. I know that locating a way to rid yourself of stinky breath can be time-consuming. To spare you the hassle and save you some time, some good ideas for a cure for bad breath will be provided over the next several paragraphs.

One of the causes of bad breath are the bacteria that feed on the leftover food in your mouth. This situation will cause the release of disgusting smelling volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) which can cause your breath to smell like sweaty socks. Consequently, for this situation, a way to get rid of bad breath is to practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing after any meal. Performing this activity will decrease the amount of food particles the bacteria can feast on. There might also be food remnants remaining on your tongue so using a tongue scraper to remove them would also be useful.

An easy cure for bad breath is to eliminate sugar from any of your meals. This means that you should not eat any types of gums, mints, or candies that have any sugar in them. The reason for this is that the bacteria in your mouth can utilize sugar to grow and this will increase the production of horrible smelling VSCs.

Eliminating anything that contains a high level of acid from your diet can also be a good cure for bad breath. Highly acidic drinks or foods can cause the bacteria in your mouth to reproduce at a faster rate which will leave a bitter aftertaste and leave bad odor in your mouth. Items you should avoid include grapefruits, tomatoes, pineapples, oranges, and caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. Instead of coffee, you can drink some tea which is less acidic.

One cause of bad breath is dry mouth. It can cause bacteria to grow more quickly. Dry mouth can occur if you do not drink enough water. You can eliminate dry mouth by drinking at least eight glasses of water everyday. Water will flush out any remaining food and keep your mouth moist.

Many people will try to get rid of halitosis by utilizing a commercial mouthwash. Actually, most commercial mouthwashes may force your breath to stink even more. The problem is they contain alcohol which can dry up your mouth. A mouthwash can be made at home that would be a better cure for bad breath. This mouthwash consists of salt mixed in with a glass of warm water. After you gargle with it, your breath will smell much fresher.

Many have found the cures for bad breath mentioned above quite effective. Eliminating highly acidic drinks and foods and sugar from your diet, gargling with warm salt water, brushing and flossing after every time you eat, or drinking at least eight cups of water everyday can clean up your breath and improve your social life.
