There are many uses for steam in the world, it has been used to power equipment, produce electricity, in the agricultural industry to sterilize soil and many other uses, but one of the best uses for the general population in today’s age is for cleaning and sanitizing the home without chemicals.
Because steam is produced from super heated water, it kills most germs on contact, so sanitizing household surfaces and other things throughout the home makes it a great method to make an area safe from germs, bacteria and other potentially unhealthy or deadly organisms in the modern home.
Grease, grime and other soils are easily loosened with steam also. The instant and intense heat makes molecules vibrate at a much higher speed, and this is what causes the easy breakdown of soils. So a quick burst of steam on that oven will loosen the hard and backed on mess so that the material can be easily wiped away. This makes cleaning quick and easy without using chemicals that everyone now knows is not good to come in contact with.
Steam also has the same effect on soap scum in the bathroom shower and tub, and again without chemical cleaners. The plus side is that it also sanitizes the area at the same time. So there is three benefits to each cleaning project that steam is used to clean in the home. Easy soil removal, sanitizing as you clean and no harmful chemicals for you, your family or pets to be exposed to.
We are not finished; we are just getting started with the value of steam in the home. You can also use steam to clean clothes and remove wrinkles. The basic steam iron will probably never be a thing of the past, but newer inventions now make it easier to remove wrinkles while refreshing clothes and protecting delicate fabrics at the same time, and you do not need the ironing board to use these new inventions. You can simply place the garment on a hanger and pass the steam wand across the surface of the hanging garment and the wrinkles just disappear, while refreshing and cleaning it at the same time.
Homes and commercial buildings have used the power of steam for many years to provide heat for them across the world. Boilers and boiler rooms have heated schools, factories and apartment buildings for many decades and some historians even suggest that there were similar, but less advanced systems back as far as the 16th century.
No matter how you look at it, or what direction you run with it, steam is a major player in today’s societies across the world.
